BIO

Joe studied cello, piano, composition, improvisation and music theory at the Royal College of Music Junior Department with the support of a Tsukanov Scholarship and the Wolfson Music Award. He then studied music at the University of Oxford, where he won the Fitzgerald Prize and an academic scholarship and graduated with a Double First.


Joe has given concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, St Paul's Cathedral, Blenheim Palace, the Stauffer Academy. In 2018, he played a cello solo for Felicity Jones' wedding. He has featured in masterclasses with Yo-Yo Ma, Dave Holland, Mario Brunello, Natalie Klein, Mäts Lidstrom, Bojan Cicic, and Laurence Cummings.


Joe has been teaching for over a decade and is passionate about passing on his knowledge to the next generation in an effective, accessible way. His teachers include Hannah Roberts, Jonathan Manson, Guy Johnston, Alexander Boyarsky, (cello); Yoko Ono, Charlotte Tomlinson, Marie-Noelle Kendall (piano); Robert Saxton, David Sutton-Anderson (composition.)
